Leading Aviation Supplier Edmo Will Distribute the eFlyBook™ Document Viewer
January 30, 2007
eFlybookAnnapolis, MarylandIncorporated has contracted with Edmo Distributors, Inc. of Spokane, Washington to handle the wholesale distribution of its eFlyBook™ document viewer to the general aviation market. Edmo is the world's largest distributor of aircraft electronics, with a network of 9,000 active resellers.
The eFlyBook viewer is smaller, lighter, and less costly than laptop computers and tablet PCs typically used by pilots today to store and read electronic documents. It is also far easier to read, with an "electronic paper" display visible under any lighting conditions.
"eFlyBook is one of the most innovative products to come along in years," stated Edmo President Jeff Christianson. "It is wonderful to see new technology like this focused on the general aviation market." He said Edmo plans to develop a qualified reseller network for eFlyBook, and will schedule dealer advertising in the near future.
"General aviation knows Edmo as the go-to source for virtually all avionics and pilot supplies," said Brian Pemberton, eFlyBook Product Manager. "We are very excited to have the industry's dominant channel supplier supporting eFlyBook."
eFlyBook combines two revolutionary technologies: award-winning chart viewing software developed by MyAirplane.com, and a slim, portable "iLiad" eReader, developed and manufactured by iRex Technologies of the Netherlands. The clear display shows enroute charts and other essential documents on a glare-free screen that remains highly legible in bright sunlight or under red cockpit lights at night.
eFlyBook's price includes a 6-month digital subscription to FAA enroute charts, digital copies of the complete U.S. terminal procedures, the U.S. airport facility directory, and FAR/AIM documents. Pilots can easily store their own documents in the unit's memory, and more documents and applications can be added via memory cards. An easy-to-use screen interface retrieves and displays charts and documents, and the screen also captures handwritten notes from pilots using the supplied stylus.
"eFlyBook finally delivers on the promise of electronic documents for pilots, and it is the first product suitable for use under all flying conditions," concluded Pemberton.
